These two images of granite surfaces in Lincoln Woods, RI were shot on 8x10 glass plates hand-coated in silver gelatin emulsion. Chemical reactions occur on the surface of the glass and on the surface of the stone, with biological life interacting formally with chemical abberations in the image processing. The gelatin emulsion erodes away from the nonporous glass, mimicking the eons of change in its subject.
