Weathered Surfaces

These five images of granite surfaces in Lincoln Woods, RI were shot on glass plates hand-coated in silver gelatin emulsion. The weathered surface of the stone interacts with the unpredictable surface of the image. The chemical and temporal processes that eroded both image and subject resist an illusory image/subject collapse instead creating an image-as-object. This work captures time scales, massive and minuscule.
