Created during a two-week blacksmithing workshop at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, this piece takes inspiration from the glacial landscape of Deer Isle, Maine. Created using a combination of traditional forging techniques and digital modeling and fabrication, "Rendering..." explores the relationship between natural objects and their invisible underground structures. Taking inspiration from videogame glitches, the polygonal surfaces were modeled to fit tightly to the hammered and textured organic surface, and fabricated using CNC plasma cutting.
